“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Start by reviewing the Pendo API documentation to understand the available endpoints that provide the data you need. Familiarize yourself with authentication methods, endpoint structures, request parameters, and response formats.
Obtain the necessary API keys or tokens from your Pendo account settings to authenticate your API requests. This usually involves creating an API key in Pendo that grants the required permissions to access the data you need.
Write a script in a programming language of your choice (such as Python or Node.js) that makes HTTP requests to the Pendo API endpoints. Use the authentication credentials from step 2 to successfully connect and retrieve the desired data. Parse the API responses to extract relevant data fields.
Ensure that you have a Kafka cluster up and running. Install Kafka on your server or use a cloud-based Kafka service. Configure your Kafka brokers, topics, and partitions to prepare for incoming data.
Convert the extracted data from Pendo into a format suitable for Kafka. This typically involves serializing the data into a JSON format or another preferred serialization format like Avro or Protobuf, depending on your Kafka setup and data schema requirements.
Use a Kafka client library for your chosen programming language to produce messages to your Kafka topic. Establish a connection to the Kafka brokers and send the serialized data. Ensure to handle any potential errors or exceptions during this process, such as network issues or serialization errors.
Continuously monitor the data flow from Pendo to Kafka to ensure that messages are being sent and received correctly. Use Kafka's built-in tools or other logging mechanisms to validate that the data in Kafka matches what was extracted from Pendo. Implement logging and error-handling in your script to capture and diagnose issues.
By following these steps, you can successfully move data from Pendo to Kafka without relying on third-party connectors or integrations. This approach requires a solid understanding of both APIs and data handling, but it provides full control over the data transfer process.
