End of maintenance: what's changing
SAP has set end of mainstream maintenance for SAP Data Intelligence on-premise on December 31, 2026, and for SAP Data Intelligence Cloud on December 31, 2028. SAP no longer sells new Cloud subscriptions; existing customers can renew until the end date.
SAP positions SAP Business Data Cloud and SAP Datasphere as the strategic successors. They don't map one-to-one to every Data Intelligence scenario, so customers need to decide, pipeline by pipeline, what to rebuild where.
Choosing a migration path
Most Data Intelligence estates mix two kinds of work:
- SAP-centric scenarios that model SAP business data and feed SAP analytics. These usually belong in SAP Business Data Cloud and Datasphere.
- General data movement from SaaS apps, APIs and databases, often into Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery or a data lake. These don't need to stay inside the SAP stack.
