How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Extract Data from AppsFlyer
To start, log into your AppsFlyer account and navigate to the data export section. Use AppsFlyer's built-in data export tools to download the necessary dataset in a CSV format. Ensure you have the correct permissions and select the specific data range and type of data you need (e.g., installs, in-app events).
Step 2: Transform Data for Compatibility
Once the data is extracted, it's crucial to ensure that the data format is compatible with TiDB. Use a tool like Excel or a script in Python to clean and transform the data. Ensure that the column headers in your CSV match the schema of the TiDB table where you intend to import the data.
Step 3: Prepare TiDB Environment
Set up your TiDB environment if it is not already ready. Ensure that the TiDB server is running and accessible. Create a database and a table schema that matches the structure of your CSV file. You can use SQL commands to create the tables and define data types for each column.
Step 4: Load Data into TiDB Using TiDB's SQL Client
Use the TiDB SQL client or any MySQL-compatible client to load the data. First, log in to the TiDB server using the client. Use the `LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE` statement to import the CSV file into the target table. Ensure that the CSV file is located in a directory that is accessible to the TiDB server.
Step 5: Validate Data Integrity
After loading the data, it's crucial to validate that the data has been imported correctly. Run SQL queries to check for the expected number of records, inspect a few sample rows to ensure data integrity, and verify that data types are correctly interpreted.
Step 6: Set Up Error Handling and Logging
Implement error handling by setting up logging to capture any issues during the import process. This can involve capturing errors in SQL scripts and writing them to a log file. This step helps in troubleshooting and ensures that any data discrepancies can be quickly identified and resolved.
Step 7: Schedule Regular Data Transfers
Finally, establish a schedule for regular data transfers to keep your TiDB database updated with the latest data from AppsFlyer. Automate the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process using scripts and cron jobs on a server. Ensure that this automated process includes all necessary error handling and notifications.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from AppsFlyer to TiDB without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
