How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Freshdesk
Begin by logging into your Freshdesk account. Navigate to the "Admin" section, then select "Reports" or "Data Export" depending on your plan. Export the data you need such as tickets, customers, or solutions in CSV format. Save these files securely on your local machine for processing.
Step 2: Examine the Exported Data
Open the CSV files using a spreadsheet application like Excel or Google Sheets. Inspect the data to understand its structure, including the columns and data types. This will help you determine how to map this data to Weaviate's schema.
Step 3: Define Weaviate Schema
Before importing data into Weaviate, you need to define a schema that matches the structure of your Freshdesk data. Access your Weaviate instance and use the schema management tools to create classes and properties. Ensure that the schema accommodates all necessary fields from your Freshdesk data.
Step 4: Clean and Transform Data
Use a spreadsheet application or a scripting language like Python to clean and transform your data. This may involve renaming columns to match your Weaviate schema, converting data types, and removing any unnecessary information. Ensure the data is formatted correctly for ingestion into Weaviate.
Step 5: Prepare Data for Import
Convert your cleaned and transformed data into a JSON format that matches the schema of your Weaviate instance. Each entry should be a JSON object with properties corresponding to the Weaviate schema, ensuring that all required fields are included.
Step 6: Load Data into Weaviate
Use Weaviate's RESTful API to load your data. Write a script in a language such as Python to iterate over your JSON data and send POST requests to the Weaviate API's `/objects` endpoint. Ensure you handle authentication and error checking to verify successful data import.
Step 7: Verify Data in Weaviate
After loading the data, access your Weaviate instance and verify that the data has been imported correctly. Use Weaviate's query capabilities to check that all entries are present and that the data aligns with your expectations. Address any discrepancies by reviewing your data transformation and import process.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Freshdesk to Weaviate without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
