Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Access Google PageSpeed Insights API
Start by familiarizing yourself with the Google PageSpeed Insights API. Obtain an API key from the Google Cloud Console. This key will allow you to make authorized requests to the API and retrieve performance data for a given URL.
Step 2: Set Up a Script to Fetch Data
Write a script in a programming language, such as Python, to send HTTP requests to the PageSpeed Insights API. Use the API key to authenticate your requests. The script should request performance data for specific URLs you are interested in analyzing.
Step 3: Parse and Structure the API Response
Once you receive the API response, parse the JSON data to extract the specific metrics you need. This might include performance scores, loading times, and other key metrics. Store this data in a structured format like a dictionary or list of dictionaries.
Step 4: Prepare TiDB Environment
Ensure that your TiDB instance is up and running. You need to have access to a TiDB cluster with the necessary permissions to create databases and tables. You can run TiDB on-premises, in a local development environment, or in a cloud environment.
Step 5: Design Database Schema in TiDB
Plan and create a database schema in TiDB to store the extracted data. Define tables and columns based on the data structure from the PageSpeed Insights API. Make sure to choose appropriate data types for each column to ensure efficient storage and querying.
Step 6: Insert Data into TiDB
Extend your script to insert the structured data into TiDB. Connect to your TiDB instance using a suitable database connector (such as a MySQL connector if you're using Python). Use SQL `INSERT` statements to populate your tables with the data you extracted and parsed from the API.
Step 7: Automate the Data Collection Process
To ensure that your data remains up-to-date, automate the entire process. Use a task scheduler like cron (on Unix-like systems) or Windows Task Scheduler to run your script at regular intervals. This will help continuously fetch new data from the PageSpeed Insights API and update your TiDB database with the latest metrics.
By following these steps, you can efficiently move data from Google PageSpeed Insights to TiDB without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
