Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Greenhouse API
Begin by familiarizing yourself with the Greenhouse API documentation. Greenhouse provides RESTful APIs that allow you to access various data points. Identify the specific data endpoints you need, such as candidate information or job openings. Ensure you have the necessary API credentials, including the API key, which is essential for authentication.
Step 2: Set Up API Authentication
Use your Greenhouse API key to authenticate your requests. This typically involves including your key in the header of your HTTP requests. Test your authentication by making a simple API call using tools like cURL or Postman to ensure that you can connect and retrieve data successfully.
Step 3: Extract Data from Greenhouse
Develop a script in a programming language you're comfortable with (such as Python, Ruby, or Node.js) to extract data from the Greenhouse API. Use HTTP GET requests to pull data from the desired endpoints. Handle pagination if the data set is large, as Greenhouse API responses might be paginated.
Step 4: Transform and Clean Data
Once the data is extracted, transform it into a format suitable for MySQL. This may involve cleaning the data, converting data types, and renaming fields to match your MySQL database schema. Use data manipulation libraries like pandas in Python to perform these operations efficiently.
Step 5: Set Up MySQL Database
Ensure you have a MySQL database setup to receive the data. Define the schema that matches the transformed data structure. Create tables with appropriate columns and data types if they do not exist. Use tools like MySQL Workbench to design your schema and execute SQL commands.
Step 6: Load Data into MySQL
With the data transformed and MySQL schema ready, write a script to insert the data into your MySQL database. You can use libraries such as `mysql-connector` for Python or equivalent in other languages to connect to your MySQL database and execute INSERT statements. Ensure proper error handling and logging to track any insertion issues.
Step 7: Automate the Process
Once the data transfer process is working manually, consider automating it. Use cron jobs on Unix-based systems or Task Scheduler on Windows to run your script at regular intervals. This ensures that your MySQL database is updated with the latest data from Greenhouse without manual intervention. Make sure to handle any potential errors and log activities for troubleshooting.
