How to Sync to Manually
Start by exporting the necessary data from your Harvest account. Log in to Harvest, navigate to the section where your data is stored (such as timesheets or invoices), and use the built-in export functionality. Typically, Harvest allows you to export data in CSV format, which is ideal for manual data manipulation and transfer.
Once you have your data in CSV format, open it using a spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Clean and organize the data to ensure it aligns with the schema of your TiDB database. Remove any unnecessary columns, correct data types, and handle any missing or inconsistent data entries.
If you haven't already, set up a TiDB environment. You can install TiDB on a local machine, a cloud environment, or use a managed TiDB service. Ensure that you have access to the TiDB command-line tool (TiDB CLI) and have the necessary permissions to create databases and tables.
Based on the structure of your Harvest data, create the necessary tables in your TiDB database. Use the TiDB CLI to execute SQL commands that define your tables' structure, including columns, data types, and any primary or foreign keys. Ensure that the schema in TiDB matches the layout of your cleaned CSV data.
Convert your CSV data into SQL INSERT statements. You can do this manually by writing a script or using spreadsheet functionality to concatenate strings that form SQL commands. Each line in your CSV should correspond to an INSERT statement that adds a row to your TiDB table.
With your SQL INSERT statements ready, connect to your TiDB instance using the TiDB CLI. Execute the SQL commands to insert the data into the appropriate tables. This process might involve pasting the SQL commands directly into the CLI or using a script to automate the execution of multiple statements.
After importing, verify that the data in TiDB matches the original data from Harvest. Perform SELECT queries to check for data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Compare row counts and sample data points between the source CSV and the TiDB tables to ensure successful data migration.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Harvest to TiDB without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
