Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Access Intercom API
Begin by obtaining access to the Intercom API. Go to the Intercom developers section of your account and generate an access token. This token will be used to authenticate API requests and retrieve data from your Intercom account.
Step 2: Identify Data to Extract
Determine which data you need to move to MySQL. Intercom provides various endpoints (e.g., users, conversations, messages). Review the Intercom API documentation to understand the structure and fields available for each type of data you want to extract.
Step 3: Set Up Data Retrieval Script
Write a script in your preferred programming language (Python, Node.js, PHP, etc.) to interact with the Intercom API. Use the access token to authenticate your requests. Implement API calls to the desired endpoints to fetch the data. Ensure your script can handle pagination if the data exceeds the API's page limits.
Step 4: Normalize and Format Data
Once data is retrieved, normalize and format it to match the schema of your MySQL database. This may involve transforming data types, restructuring JSON objects, or flattening nested data. Ensure consistency so that the data aligns with your MySQL table structures.
Step 5: Set Up MySQL Database
Prepare your MySQL database for incoming data. This involves creating the necessary tables and schemas if they do not already exist. Use appropriate data types and constraints to match the format of the data you are importing from Intercom.
Step 6: Insert Data into MySQL
Modify your script to insert the transformed data into your MySQL database. You can use a library like `mysql-connector-python` for Python, `mysql` for Node.js, or `mysqli` for PHP to interact with MySQL. Make sure to handle exceptions and errors to ensure data integrity during the insertion process.
Step 7: Automate and Schedule Data Transfer
To keep your MySQL database updated, automate the script execution using a task scheduler like cron (for Unix-based systems) or Task Scheduler (for Windows). Determine how frequently you need to sync data depending on your needs, and set up the scheduler to run your script at those intervals.
By following these steps, you'll be able to efficiently transfer data from Intercom to MySQL without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
