How to load data from My Hours to Firebolt

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your My Hours data into Firebolt within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a My Hours connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up Firebolt for your extracted My Hours data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the My Hours to Firebolt in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Export Data from My Hours

Begin by exporting the data you need from My Hours. Log in to your My Hours account, navigate to the "Reports" section, and use the export function to download the data in a CSV format. Ensure all necessary fields and records are included in your export.

Step 2: Prepare Data for Import

Open the exported CSV file in a spreadsheet editor (such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets). Review the data structure and clean up any inconsistencies or errors. Ensure that the column headers are clear and match the intended schema in Firebolt for a smooth import process.

Step 3: Set Up Firebolt Environment

Log in to your Firebolt account and set up the necessary database and table structure to receive the data from My Hours. Create a new database if needed, and define the schema of the table, ensuring that it aligns with the format of your CSV file.

Step 4: Convert CSV to SQL Insert Statements

Use a scripting language such as Python to automate the conversion of your CSV data into SQL INSERT statements. This script should read each row of the CSV file and generate corresponding SQL commands to insert data into Firebolt. Make sure to handle special characters and escape sequences appropriately.

Step 5: Establish a Connection to Firebolt

Utilize Firebolt's command-line interface or any supported SQL client to establish a connection to your Firebolt database. Ensure you have the necessary authentication credentials and network access to connect securely.

Step 6: Execute SQL Scripts

Run the generated SQL INSERT statements on your Firebolt database. This can be done by copying the SQL commands into your SQL client or by using a script to automate the execution. Monitor the process for any errors and ensure that all data is inserted correctly.

Step 7: Verify Data Integrity

Once the data has been imported into Firebolt, perform a series of checks to verify data integrity. Query the new tables to ensure all records are present, and compare a sample of records against the original data from My Hours to confirm accuracy. Address any discrepancies as needed.

This guide provides a direct and practical approach to moving data between My Hours and Firebolt without relying on third-party tools, focusing on manual processes and custom scripting.
