How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Notion
Begin by exporting the data you need from Notion. Open your Notion page, click on the three dots in the top-right corner, and select "Export." Choose the format you prefer, such as CSV or Markdown, depending on the data structure and your specific needs. Download the exported file to your local machine.
Step 2: Prepare the Data for Import
Open the exported file and ensure that it is clean and structured appropriately for Firebolt. If it's a CSV, verify that the data is well-organized in columns with headers. Clean any unwanted characters or data that may cause issues during the import process. If needed, use a spreadsheet application to adjust the data format.
Step 3: Set Up Your Firebolt Environment
Log in to your Firebolt account and set up the necessary database and table structures to accommodate the data you are importing. Define the schema that matches the structure of your Notion data, ensuring the data types and column names align with your CSV file.
Step 4: Convert Data to SQL-Compatible Format
Use a programming language such as Python to convert your CSV file into SQL-compatible INSERT statements. This involves reading the CSV file line by line and constructing an SQL INSERT statement for each row. Libraries like pandas can be helpful for this task.
Step 5: Connect to Firebolt via SQL Command-Line Interface
Use Firebolt's SQL command-line interface (CLI) to connect to your Firebolt database. Ensure you have the necessary credentials and access rights to perform data import operations. The CLI allows you to execute SQL commands directly on your Firebolt instance.
Step 6: Execute SQL Statements for Data Import
Run the SQL INSERT statements generated in Step 4 using the Firebolt SQL CLI. This will insert each row of your data into the Firebolt table you prepared earlier. Monitor the process for any errors and validate that the data is being inserted correctly.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity in Firebolt
After the data import process is complete, perform data integrity checks within Firebolt to ensure that all data has been imported correctly. Run queries to verify row counts, data consistency, and any specific value checks against your original Notion data. Make adjustments if necessary.
By following these steps, you can successfully transfer data from Notion to Firebolt without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
