How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Access Oura API

Oura provides an API for accessing your personal health data. Begin by obtaining an API key from the Oura website. Log in to your Oura account, navigate to the API section, and generate a personal access token. This token will allow you to programmatically access your data.

Use a script to fetch data from the Oura API. You can use Python with libraries like `requests` to send HTTP GET requests to the API endpoints. For example, to fetch sleep data, make a request to the `/v1/sleep` endpoint. Ensure you include your API key in the request headers for authentication.

Once the data is fetched, transform it into a format suitable for storage in S3, such as JSON or CSV. Use Python's built-in libraries like `json` or `csv` to convert the response data. This step involves parsing the API response and organizing the data into a structured format.

Log in to the AWS Management Console and create an S3 bucket if you haven't already. Make sure to configure the bucket's permissions and properties according to your requirements. Note down the bucket name and region, as you'll need these for uploading data.

Use the AWS SDK for Python, Boto3, to upload the transformed data to your S3 bucket. You can install Boto3 via pip if it's not already installed. Write a script that uses `boto3.client('s3')` to upload the file to the specified bucket and key (filename). Ensure your AWS credentials have the necessary permissions to write to the bucket.

Navigate to AWS Glue in the AWS Management Console and create a new Glue Crawler. Configure the crawler to scan the S3 bucket where your Oura data is stored. The crawler will catalog the data, creating or updating a database and table schema based on the data format.

Finally, create an AWS Glue Job to process the data. Use the Glue ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) capabilities to transform and analyze your data. You can write a Python script using the PySpark library within Glue to perform any additional data transformations or analyses. Execute the job and monitor its progress through the AWS Glue Console.

By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Oura to Amazon S3 and utilize AWS Glue for further processing without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
