How to load data from Pinterest to MongoDB

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your Pinterest data into MongoDB within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Set Up Pinterest Developer Account

To access Pinterest Ads data, you need to have a Pinterest Developer account. Go to the Pinterest Developer Portal and create an account. Once registered, you will be able to create an app that will grant you API access to Pinterest Ads data.

Step 2: Create an API App and Obtain Credentials

In the Pinterest Developer Portal, create a new app. This will generate API credentials, including a client ID and client secret. These credentials are crucial for authenticating API requests. Make sure to store these securely and not expose them publicly.

Step 3: Authenticate and Obtain an Access Token

Use your client ID and client secret to authenticate and obtain an OAuth access token. This can be done by making a POST request to Pinterest's OAuth endpoint, exchanging your credentials for a token. This token will be required to make authorized API calls to access Ads data.

Step 4: Extract Pinterest Ads Data via API

With the access token, you can now make GET requests to Pinterest's Ads API endpoints to extract the data you need. This involves specifying the necessary parameters such as ad account ID, date range, and specific metrics or fields you wish to retrieve. Ensure you handle pagination if your data set is large.

Step 5: Install and Set Up MongoDB

If you haven't already, install MongoDB on your local machine or server where you plan to store the data. You can download MongoDB from the official website and follow the installation instructions specific to your operating system. Once installed, start the MongoDB service.

Step 6: Transform and Prepare Data for MongoDB

Transform the data retrieved from Pinterest into a format suitable for MongoDB. This typically involves converting the data into JSON format, as MongoDB stores data in BSON (Binary JSON). Ensure that the data structure aligns with your MongoDB schema or collection design.

Step 7: Insert Data into MongoDB

Use a scripting language like Python to connect to MongoDB and insert the prepared data. Utilize a library such as PyMongo to establish a connection to your MongoDB instance and perform insert operations. Ensure that you insert the data into the appropriate database and collection, handling any potential errors or exceptions during the process.

By following these steps, you can manually transfer data from Pinterest Ads to a MongoDB database without relying on third-party tools or connectors.
