“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Begin by creating a Plaid account if you haven't already. Once logged in, create an application in the Plaid Dashboard to obtain your Client ID and Secret. These credentials will be necessary for authenticating API requests to Plaid. Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access the financial data you need.
Use Plaid's API to authenticate your application. First, exchange your public token for an access token. This involves making a request to the `/item/public_token/exchange` endpoint using the Plaid Client ID and Secret. Save the access token securely, as it will be used to fetch data from user accounts.
With the access token, you can now retrieve financial data from Plaid. Use the appropriate Plaid API endpoints like `/accounts/get` or `/transactions/get` to fetch the required data. Make HTTP requests using libraries like `requests` in Python or `axios` in JavaScript to collect the data in a structured format (e.g., JSON).
Once you have the data, transform it into a format that is compatible with DynamoDB. DynamoDB works with JSON format, so ensure your data structure aligns with your DynamoDB table schema, setting up any necessary attribute types (e.g., strings, numbers, lists).
Log into your AWS Management Console and navigate to DynamoDB. Create a new table, defining the primary key (partition key and optionally a sort key) based on the data structure you plan to store. Make sure to configure the read/write capacity settings according to your expected load.
Utilize the AWS SDK for your chosen programming language to programmatically write data to DynamoDB. For example, in Python, you can use the `boto3` library. Write a script that iterates over your transformed data and uses the `put_item` method to insert each item into your DynamoDB table.
Ensure that your data migration script includes robust error handling and logging. Catch exceptions during API requests or data insertion and log them for troubleshooting. Implement retries for transient errors and log successful operations for audit purposes. Use AWS CloudWatch for centralized logging and monitoring of your data migration process.
Following these steps will guide you through moving data from Plaid to DynamoDB without the need for third-party connectors or integrations.
