How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from PrestaShop
To begin, access the PrestaShop back office. Navigate to the "Advanced Parameters" and then "Database" section. Use the "Export" function to download the desired tables or datasets as CSV files. Ensure you export all necessary data, such as products, orders, and customers, by selecting the appropriate tables.
Step 2: Clean and Format the Data
Open the exported CSV files using a spreadsheet application like Excel or Google Sheets. Review the data for any inconsistencies or formatting issues, such as missing values or incorrect data types. Clean the data by correcting these issues to ensure it is ready for import into Firebolt.
Step 3: Prepare the Firebolt Environment
Log in to your Firebolt account and set up a new database or use an existing one to store your PrestaShop data. Define the schema and tables in Firebolt that will match the structure of your PrestaShop data. Use Firebolt's SQL editor to create tables with appropriate data types and constraints.
Step 4: Convert CSV Files to SQL Insert Statements
Use a scripting language such as Python or a simple text editor to convert the cleaned CSV data into SQL insert statements. Each line of your CSV should be converted into an SQL insert statement that matches the table structure in Firebolt. Ensure proper data type conversion and escape any special characters.
Step 5: Access Firebolt via Command Line Interface
Firebolt offers a command-line interface (CLI) for direct database interaction. Access the Firebolt CLI from your system terminal by connecting to your Firebolt account using the provided credentials. This will allow you to execute SQL commands directly against your Firebolt database.
Step 6: Execute SQL Scripts to Import Data
Once connected to Firebolt via the CLI, execute the SQL insert statements you prepared earlier. You can either run each statement manually or save them in a script file and execute the file in batch mode. Monitor the process for any errors and ensure that all data is inserted correctly into the respective tables.
Step 7: Validate Data Integrity and Performance
After importing the data, run queries in Firebolt to validate that the data has been transferred correctly. Check for data integrity by comparing record counts and spot-checking data values against the original PrestaShop exports. Finally, execute performance queries to ensure that the imported data is optimized for Firebolt’s analytics engine.
By following these steps, you can successfully move data from PrestaShop to Firebolt without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
