What our users say

Raman Singh
Predictable, straightforward pricing model that simplified budgeting and significantly reduced overall spend

Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from SurveyCTO
Start by logging into your SurveyCTO account. Navigate to the dataset you wish to export. Use the export functionality provided by SurveyCTO to download the data. You can typically export the data in CSV format, which is compatible with many database systems, including PostgreSQL.
Step 2: Prepare the CSV File
Open the exported CSV file in a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel or a text editor to inspect the data. Ensure that the data types match the intended schema in the PostgreSQL database. Make any necessary adjustments, such as formatting dates or cleaning up data inconsistencies.
Step 3: Set Up PostgreSQL Database and Table
Access your PostgreSQL database using a tool like pgAdmin or the psql command-line interface. If you haven't already, create a new database for your data. Then, define a table schema that matches the structure of your CSV data, specifying column names and data types.
```sql
CREATE TABLE survey_data (
id SERIAL PRIMARY KEY,
column1 TEXT,
column2 INTEGER,
column3 DATE
-- Add more columns as necessary
);
```
Step 4: Transfer CSV File to Server
If your PostgreSQL server is remote, securely transfer the CSV file to the server using a method such as SCP (Secure Copy Protocol) or FTP. Ensure that the file is placed in a directory accessible by the PostgreSQL user. If your server is local, you can skip this step.
Step 5: Import CSV Data into PostgreSQL
Use the `COPY` command in PostgreSQL to import the data from the CSV file into your table. This command is efficient and straightforward for loading data from a file.
```sql
COPY survey_data(column1, column2, column3)
FROM '/path/to/your/file.csv'
DELIMITER ','
CSV HEADER;
```
Ensure that the file path is correctly specified and that the PostgreSQL user has the necessary permissions to read the file.
Step 6: Verify Data Import
After running the `COPY` command, verify that the data has been correctly imported. You can do this by running a simple `SELECT` query to inspect a few rows of the data.
```sql
SELECT * FROM survey_data LIMIT 10;
```
Check for any discrepancies or errors that might have occurred during the import process.
Step 7: Automate Future Data Transfers (Optional)
If you need to regularly update the data from SurveyCTO, consider writing a script that automates this process. Use a programming language like Python or Bash to automate the download, preparation, and import steps. Schedule the script to run at regular intervals using a task scheduler like cron (Linux) or Task Scheduler (Windows).
By following these steps, you can efficiently transfer data from SurveyCTO to a PostgreSQL database without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
