How to Sync to Manually
Begin by exporting your survey data from SurveySparrow. Log into your SurveySparrow account, navigate to the survey you wish to export data from, and use the export feature to download the data. Typically, data can be exported in formats like CSV or Excel, which are ideal for manual import into databases.
Once exported, open the data file in a spreadsheet application like Excel or Google Sheets. Ensure the data is clean and well-structured: remove any unnecessary columns, handle missing values, and format the data according to your ClickHouse schema requirements. Save the cleaned data as a CSV file for easy import.
If not already installed, set up the ClickHouse client tools on your local machine. This includes the ClickHouse client, which you will use to execute SQL queries. You can install it by following the official ClickHouse installation guide for your operating system.
Access your ClickHouse server using the ClickHouse client or any SQL interface you prefer. Create a new table tailored to the structure of your survey data. Use a `CREATE TABLE` statement that defines the column types and any necessary constraints, ensuring it matches the data structure in your CSV file.
Use the ClickHouse `INSERT` command to load your CSV data into the newly created table. This can be done using the command line by executing a command like:
```
clickhouse-client --query="INSERT INTO your_table_name FORMAT CSV" < /path/to/your/file.csv
```
Ensure that the CSV format matches the table schema exactly.
After loading the data, verify its integrity by running select queries on your ClickHouse database. Check for any discrepancies or errors that might have occurred during the transfer. This step is crucial to ensure that the data in ClickHouse accurately reflects the exported data from SurveySparrow.
If you need to move data regularly, consider writing a script to automate the export, cleanup, and import process. This can be accomplished using a combination of shell scripting and SQL commands, allowing you to execute the entire operation with minimal manual intervention in the future.
