“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Extract Data from SurveySparrow
First, log into your SurveySparrow account and navigate to the Responses section of the survey from which you want to extract data. Download the survey data in a CSV format by selecting the "Export" option. This downloaded file will be used for further processing.
Step 2: Set Up a Kafka Environment
Install Apache Kafka on your local machine or server. You can download Kafka from the official Apache Kafka website. Follow the installation instructions specific to your operating system. Make sure that both Zookeeper and Kafka server are running. Use the command `bin/zookeeper-server-start.sh config/zookeeper.properties` to start Zookeeper and `bin/kafka-server-start.sh config/server.properties` to start Kafka.
Step 3: Create a Kafka Topic
Create a Kafka topic where you will publish the survey data. Use the Kafka command-line tool to create a new topic. For example: `bin/kafka-topics.sh --create --topic survey-data --bootstrap-server localhost:9092 --partitions 1 --replication-factor 1`. This creates a topic named "survey-data" with one partition and a replication factor of one.
Step 4: Develop a Data Parser Script
Write a script to parse the CSV file and prepare the data for Kafka. The script can be written in Python using the `csv` module to read the CSV file. Ensure the script processes each row and prepares data in the format you would like to send to Kafka. Save this script as `parse_survey_data.py`.
Step 5: Send Data to Kafka
Extend the data parser script to send data to the Kafka topic. Use a Kafka client library such as `confluent_kafka` for Python to produce messages. Install the library using pip (`pip install confluent_kafka`). In your script, after parsing each row, produce the message to the Kafka topic using the Kafka producer's `produce` method.
Step 6: Verify Data in Kafka
Use Kafka’s command-line consumer tool to verify that messages are being correctly sent to the Kafka topic. Run the consumer command: `bin/kafka-console-consumer.sh --bootstrap-server localhost:9092 --topic survey-data --from-beginning` to consume messages from the beginning of the topic and check if the data matches what was in the CSV file.
Step 7: Automate the Data Transfer Process
To automate the transfer, consider scheduling the script to run at regular intervals using a job scheduler like cron (on Unix-based systems) or Task Scheduler (on Windows). This setup will continuously fetch new survey responses and send them to Kafka without manual intervention.
By following these steps, you can successfully transfer data from SurveySparrow to Kafka, ensuring a seamless flow of information without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
