What our users say

Raman Singh
Predictable, straightforward pricing model that simplified budgeting and significantly reduced overall spend

Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Todoist
Begin by exporting your data from Todoist. Todoist provides an option to export projects as JSON. Navigate to your Todoist account settings and choose the export option to download your data in JSON format. This will provide you with a file containing all your task data.
Step 2: Set Up AWS SDK for Python (Boto3)
Install and configure the AWS SDK for Python (Boto3), which will be used to interact with DynamoDB. Install Boto3 using pip:
```
pip install boto3
```
Configure your AWS credentials using the AWS CLI or by setting up the `~/.aws/credentials` file with your access key and secret key.
Step 3: Create a DynamoDB Table
Log into the AWS Management Console and navigate to DynamoDB. Create a new table with the necessary primary key attributes that align with your Todoist data structure (e.g., `TaskID` as the partition key).
Step 4: Parse the JSON Export File
Write a Python script to read and parse the JSON file you exported from Todoist. Use Python's built-in `json` module to load the file content:
```python
import json
with open('todoist_export.json', 'r') as file:
todoist_data = json.load(file)
```
Step 5: Transform Data to DynamoDB Format
Transform your parsed Todoist data into a format suitable for DynamoDB. Ensure that data types are compatible, and any nested structures are flattened or appropriately transformed into DynamoDB's `Map` or `List` types if needed.
Step 6: Insert Data into DynamoDB
Utilize Boto3 to programmatically insert the transformed data into your DynamoDB table. Here is an example of how to insert data using Boto3:
```python
import boto3
# Initialize DynamoDB resource
dynamodb = boto3.resource('dynamodb')
table = dynamodb.Table('YourTableName')
# Insert items into the table
for task in todoist_data['tasks']:
table.put_item(Item={
'TaskID': task['id'],
# Add other task attributes here
})
```
Step 7: Verify Data Migration
After the data insertion process is complete, verify that the data has been successfully migrated. You can query the DynamoDB table using the AWS Management Console or by writing a simple Boto3 script to fetch and print a few records from the table to confirm the data integrity and accuracy.
By following these steps, you'll be able to transfer your Todoist data to DynamoDB manually without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
