How to load data from Todoist to MongoDB

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your Todoist data into MongoDB within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines
Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.
After Airbyte
Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a Todoist connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up MongoDB for your extracted Todoist data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the Todoist to MongoDB in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Access Todoist API

First, you'll need to access the Todoist API to retrieve your data. Todoist provides an API that allows you to interact with your tasks. Start by generating a Todoist API token from your Todoist account settings. Then, use this token to authenticate your requests to the API.

Use the Todoist API to fetch the data you need. This typically involves sending a GET request to the appropriate endpoint (such as `https://api.todoist.com/rest/v1/tasks`) using a tool like Python's `requests` library. Make sure to include your API token in the request headers for authentication.

After retrieving data from Todoist, it will likely be in JSON format. Process this data to ensure it is structured in a way that suits your needs for MongoDB. This may involve parsing the JSON, cleaning up fields, and organizing the data into documents that can be inserted into MongoDB.

If you haven’t already, install MongoDB on your local machine or set up a cloud instance. Ensure that you have a database and collection ready to store your Todoist data. You can use MongoDB’s command line interface or a GUI tool like MongoDB Compass to create a database and collection.

Use a MongoDB driver appropriate for your programming environment to connect to your MongoDB instance. For example, in Python, you can use the `pymongo` library. Establish a connection to your MongoDB server and select the database and collection where you want to insert the Todoist data.

With your data processed and MongoDB connection established, insert the data into your MongoDB collection. Use appropriate methods provided by your MongoDB driver to insert documents. For example, in Python with `pymongo`, you can use the `insert_one()` or `insert_many()` methods to add your Todoist data to MongoDB.

After inserting the data, verify that the transfer was successful. You can do this by querying the MongoDB database and checking that the data matches what you retrieved from Todoist. This step ensures data integrity and confirms that the process was completed correctly.

By following these steps, you'll be able to transfer data from Todoist to MongoDB without relying on third-party tools, keeping the process within your control.
