"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from Toggl
Begin by logging into your Toggl account. Navigate to the 'Reports' section and select the data you wish to export. Utilize the filters to specify the date range and the type of data required. Once configured, choose the 'Export' option and download the data in CSV format to your local system.
Step 2: Prepare the CSV File
Open the downloaded CSV file using a spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Review and clean the data to ensure it is accurate and formatted correctly. Remove any unnecessary columns and ensure the data aligns with the schema expected by Convex.
Step 3: Set Up Convex Environment
Access your Convex account and ensure you have the necessary permissions to import data. If needed, create a new database or table within Convex that will store the imported data. Define the schema for the table, ensuring it matches the structure of your prepared CSV file.
Step 4: Convert CSV to JSON
Since Convex typically accepts data in JSON format, you need to convert your CSV file to JSON. Use a script in a programming language like Python or JavaScript to read the CSV file and output a JSON file. Ensure that the JSON structure matches the field names and data types defined in your Convex schema.
Step 5: Write a Custom Script for Data Import
Develop a custom script to interact with the Convex API. This script should read the JSON file and send POST requests to the Convex API's data import endpoint. Ensure you handle authentication by including your API key or token in the request headers for secure access.
Step 6: Execute the Data Transfer Script
Run your custom script to transfer the data. Monitor the process for any errors or interruptions. Ensure each data entry is correctly inserted into the Convex database by checking the response from the API for success or error messages.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity in Convex
Once the script has completed execution, log into your Convex account and manually verify that the data has been imported correctly. Check for any discrepancies or errors, and ensure that all records are present and correctly formatted. Perform a few queries to validate data integrity and accuracy.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Toggl to Convex without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
