"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Unleash Data Source
Before starting, ensure you have a thorough understanding of your Unleash data source. Verify that you have the necessary access credentials and understand the structure of the data you need to extract.
Step 2: Extract Data from Unleash
Export the data from your Unleash database. This can be accomplished by using SQL queries if your data is stored in a relational database, or by accessing exported files if Unleash provides export capabilities. Save the extracted data in a commonly used format such as CSV or JSON.
Step 3: Set Up an S3 Bucket
Log in to your AWS Management Console and navigate to Amazon S3. Create a new S3 bucket where you will store the data. Define a clear naming convention and configure the bucket settings, such as permissions and region, to align with your organizational policies.
Step 4: Upload Data to S3
Transfer the extracted data files to your newly created S3 bucket. This can be done using the AWS Management Console's upload feature or via the AWS CLI. Ensure that the files are correctly uploaded and accessible in the S3 bucket, using appropriate prefixes or folder structure for organization.
Step 5: Configure AWS Glue
Go to the AWS Glue service in your AWS Management Console. Create a new Glue Data Catalog to organize and maintain metadata about your datasets. Define a database and create a table schema that matches the structure of your data files in S3.
Step 6: Create an AWS Glue Crawler
Set up a Glue Crawler to automatically scan the data in your S3 bucket and populate the Glue Data Catalog. Specify the S3 path and select the database you've configured. Run the crawler to detect the data schema and update the Data Catalog.
Step 7: Verify Data in AWS Glue
After the crawler has completed, verify that the data is correctly cataloged in AWS Glue. Check the database and table entries in the Glue Data Catalog for accuracy. If necessary, run AWS Glue jobs to perform further ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations on the data, or query it using Amazon Athena for analysis.
This guide ensures that your data is securely moved from Unleash to S3 and cataloged in AWS Glue for further processing or analysis, all without relying on third-party integrations.
