“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Access YouTube Analytics API
Begin by accessing the YouTube Analytics API. You need to authenticate using OAuth 2.0 to retrieve your data. Set up a project in the Google Cloud Console, enable the YouTube Analytics API, and create credentials. Use these credentials to generate an access token, which will allow you to query the API.
Step 2: Extract Data Using Python Script
Write a Python script to extract data from the YouTube Analytics API. Use libraries like `google-auth` and `google-auth-oauthlib` to handle the authentication process. Once authenticated, use the `googleapiclient` library to make API calls and retrieve the necessary data, such as video views, watch time, and demographics.
Step 3: Transform Data to JSON or CSV
After extracting the data, transform it into a structured format like JSON or CSV. This makes it easier to work with and import into ClickHouse. Use Python libraries such as `pandas` to convert API responses into DataFrames, then export them to your desired format.
Step 4: Prepare ClickHouse Environment
Set up your ClickHouse environment. Install ClickHouse on your server or local machine if you haven't already. Create a database and define tables that match the structure of the data you have extracted. Ensure that the data types in ClickHouse align with those of the JSON or CSV files.
Step 5: Load Data into ClickHouse
Use ClickHouse's native command-line client or HTTP interface to load data into your database. For CSV files, use the `clickhouse-client` command with `--query` to insert data, specifying the table and input format. For JSON, use the HTTP interface with a POST request to the appropriate endpoint.
Step 6: Verify Data Integrity
After loading your data, verify its integrity by running queries in ClickHouse to check for completeness and accuracy. Compare sample records or aggregate values against the original data to ensure everything has been transferred correctly.
Step 7: Automate the Process
To maintain an up-to-date dataset, automate this process. Create a cron job or scheduler script that runs at regular intervals, executing the data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process. Ensure your authentication tokens are refreshed if needed, and handle errors gracefully to prevent data loss.
