Linear, Gong, and YouTube Data certified connectors

Linear, Gong, and YouTube Data now have Airbyte-supported certified connectors. It's been about a year since the Airbyte team last certified a connector, so let's talk about what certification means and how we plan to continue to add to the catalog of certified connectors.

What it means to be certified

Every connector in Airbyte's 700+ connector catalog belongs to one of three categories:

Marketplace connectors: These connectors are built and maintained by Airbyte's open-source contributors, usually through the Connector Builder. They are free, available to everyone, and often excellent. Because they rely on the open-source community for maintenance, they aren't covered by Airbyte support SLAs and they can ship backward-incompatible changes with no notice. You should always test these connectors before running them in production. The docs include usage and sync success rate for each connector.
Certified connectors: Connectors maintained by Airbyte engineers. They are tested and vetted by Airbyte before release, officially supported for all users, and include a change policy. For the few times when a breaking change is necessary, we include a time window to upgrade before forcing users onto the latest version. When a certified connector breaks, Airbyte owns the resolution.
Enterprise connectors: Connectors are available at an additional price to Pro and Enterprise accounts. These connectors include some enhanced capabilities, such as support for parallelism and larger data sets, and are covered by support SLAs.

Linear, Gong, and YouTube Data have made the jump to certified connector status, meaning that Airbyte now offers more support for changes and upgrades.

The cost of certification

Promoting a connector is more than a metadata update. Our team tested every stream against live credentials, ensured the schema and primary keys were declared correctly, made error paths explicit with actionable error messages, and ran regression testing to ensure accuracy. Linear alone carried a remediation list of sixteen items across twenty streams.

Connector maintenance used to scale linearly with the connector catalog. With 700+ connectors, engineers spent a lot of time patching errors and quirks.

Maintenance improvements

We changed two processes that improved connector maintenance.

The first is the declarative CDK. Most connectors are now a YAML manifest rather than bespoke code, running on a shared source-declarative-manifest image. Fix a retry behavior or a pagination strategy in the CDK and it propagates across the catalog without any need for reimplementation.

The second is maintenance automation. QA checks, acceptance tests, and regression comparisons run as part of the CI on each pull request. Routine upkeep, version bumps, metadata corrections, and documentation drift are now drafted by AI with a human review. Canary prereleases put a candidate in front of a slice of real connections and watch the sync success rate to ensure a smooth rollout.

None of this work certifies a connector. Instead, it frees up engineering hours to spend less time maintaining and more time adding connectors to the certified category.

Breaking changes in YouTube Data

Be aware that the YouTube Data certification includes a breaking change. It declares primary keys, reformats timestamps, and narrows the videos stream to actual videos. Existing connections will auto-upgrade on October 31, 2026.

Whatever your sync mode, refresh the source schema after you upgrade. Full Refresh | Overwrite connections also need a full stream reset. Clearing and re-syncing is safe, because Overwrite already replaces the data on every sync.

Full Refresh | Append connections need more planning, because YouTube's API cannot return all the lost data. Video statistics are point-in-time snapshots, so a fresh sync returns today's view counts. If you need to track the view count from last March, that data will be gone. Deleted comments are also inaccessible. Videos past YouTube's search result cap will not reappear. For those streams, your warehouse may be the only copy.

Destinations that cannot retype columns in place need a full stream reset regardless of sync mode.

Linear, Gong, and YouTube Data are the first three through, and we have more in store. We prioritize by usage to ensure the most popular connectors are the ones that get picked first.
