How to Sync to Manually
Begin by setting up access to the Bing Ads API. You'll need to create a developer account and obtain your API credentials, which include a Developer Token, Client ID, and Client Secret. These credentials will allow you to authenticate and access your Bing Ads data programmatically.
Using the Bing Ads API, write a script (using a language like Python or JavaScript) to extract the desired data. You can use the Reporting Service to request reports on various metrics such as clicks, impressions, and conversions. Schedule this script to run at regular intervals using a cron job or a task scheduler to automate data retrieval.
Once you have extracted the data, transform it into a format that is compatible with ClickHouse. ClickHouse typically accepts data in CSV, TSV, JSONEachRow, or other specified formats. Ensure your script converts the data into one of these formats, and handle any necessary data type conversions.
Before loading data, prepare your ClickHouse instance. Create tables that match the schema of the data you are importing. Use the ClickHouse `CREATE TABLE` command to define tables with columns that map to the fields of your transformed data.
Transfer the formatted data file from your local environment to the ClickHouse server. This can be done using secure file transfer protocols like SCP or SFTP. Ensure that the server has the necessary permissions to access the directory where the file is stored.
With the data file on the server, use the ClickHouse `INSERT INTO` command to load the data into your tables. You can use the native ClickHouse client or execute this command via a script. Make sure to handle any potential errors during this process, such as data type mismatches or integrity constraints.
After loading the data, verify its integrity by running queries to check for accuracy and completeness. Compare a sample of the data in ClickHouse with the original data from Bing Ads. Once verified, automate the entire workflow using scripts and scheduling tools to ensure data is regularly updated without manual intervention.
By following these steps, you will be able to effectively move data from Bing Ads to your ClickHouse warehouse without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
