Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from ClickUp
Begin by manually exporting your data from ClickUp. Navigate to your ClickUp account, select the data you wish to export (tasks, lists, etc.), and use the built-in export feature. Choose a format that Glue can work with, such as CSV or JSON. Download the exported file to your local machine.
Step 2: Prepare AWS S3 Bucket
Log into your AWS Management Console and navigate to S3. Create a new bucket or select an existing one where the data will be stored. Ensure the bucket has appropriate permissions for data upload and access, which will be needed for AWS Glue to read the data later.
Step 3: Upload Data to S3
Use the AWS S3 console to upload the exported ClickUp data file to your S3 bucket. Ensure the file is uploaded to the correct folder structure if your data requires organization, and verify the upload was successful.
Step 4: Set Up IAM Roles for AWS Glue
Navigate to the IAM service in AWS and create a new role for AWS Glue. Attach policies that allow read access to the S3 bucket where your data is stored. This ensures that AWS Glue has the necessary permissions to access and process the data.
Step 5: Create a Database in AWS Glue
Go to the AWS Glue console and create a new database. This database acts as a logical container for the tables and data catalog that AWS Glue will use. Give the database a meaningful name that reflects the data source or business use case.
Step 6: Define a Crawler in AWS Glue
In AWS Glue, create a new crawler. Configure the crawler to source data from the S3 bucket where you uploaded the ClickUp data. Set up the crawler to run against the correct file format (CSV, JSON, etc.), and specify the database you created earlier for storing the metadata. Run the crawler to create a table in the Glue Data Catalog based on your data.
Step 7: Run ETL Jobs in AWS Glue
With the data cataloged, create an AWS Glue ETL job. Define the source as the table created by the crawler and specify any transformations needed. For example, you might need to clean, filter, or aggregate the data. Configure the destination for the processed data, which could be another S3 bucket or a database, depending on your requirements. Run the job to process and store the transformed data.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from ClickUp to AWS S3 and set it up for processing with AWS Glue, all without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
