How to load data from PrestaShop to BigQuery

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your PrestaShop data into BigQuery within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a PrestaShop connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up BigQuery for your extracted PrestaShop data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the PrestaShop to BigQuery in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Access PrestaShop Database

First, gain access to your PrestaShop database. Typically, this is a MySQL database. Use your database credentials to connect via a MySQL client, such as phpMyAdmin or MySQL Workbench. This will allow you to run queries and export data directly from PrestaShop.

Step 2: Identify Data to Export

Determine which tables or data sets you need to move to BigQuery. Common data includes customer information, orders, and product details. Review the PrestaShop database schema to identify relevant tables and fields needed for your analysis.

Step 3: Export Data to CSV

Use SQL queries to extract the desired data from your PrestaShop database. Export the result of these queries into CSV format. Ensure that each CSV file has appropriate headers corresponding to the field names. This can typically be done through a SQL client or by using command-line tools like `mysqldump` with appropriate options for CSV export.

Step 4: Prepare Data for BigQuery

Before uploading to BigQuery, clean and format your CSV files. Ensure that the data types in your CSV match the intended schema in BigQuery. Remove any extraneous whitespace, verify correct data types, and handle any null or empty values appropriately.

Step 5: Create BigQuery Dataset and Table

In your Google Cloud Platform (GCP) account, navigate to BigQuery. Create a new dataset if one doesn’t exist. Within this dataset, create tables that will store your PrestaShop data. Define the schema for each table, ensuring that the field names and data types match those in your CSV files.

Step 6: Upload CSV to Google Cloud Storage

Use the Google Cloud Console or `gsutil` command-line tool to upload your CSV files to a Google Cloud Storage bucket. This step is necessary because BigQuery can load data directly from Cloud Storage. Ensure your CSV files are correctly placed in the bucket and that you have set appropriate access permissions.

Step 7: Load CSV Data into BigQuery

Use the BigQuery web interface, `bq` command-line tool, or BigQuery API to load your CSV files into the corresponding tables. Specify the source format as CSV and ensure the schema matches. Monitor the loading process for any errors. Once successful, your PrestaShop data will be available in BigQuery for analysis.

By following these steps, you can effectively transfer your PrestaShop data to BigQuery without the need for third-party connectors.
