How to load data from PrestaShop to Clickhouse

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your PrestaShop data into Clickhouse within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a PrestaShop connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up Clickhouse for your extracted PrestaShop data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the PrestaShop to Clickhouse in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Prepare PrestaShop Data for Export

Begin by identifying the specific data you need from PrestaShop. This could include tables related to products, orders, customers, etc. Use PrestaShop’s export feature to generate CSV files or use SQL queries directly on the PrestaShop database to extract the data. Ensure that the data is clean and well-organized for the next steps.

Step 2: Set Up a Local Environment for Data Processing

Install a local environment that supports Python or any other preferred scripting language. This environment will be used to process the exported data from PrestaShop. Ensure you have the necessary libraries to manipulate CSV files and connect to the ClickHouse database.

Step 3: Convert Data to ClickHouse-Compatible Format

Use your scripting language to convert the exported CSV data into a format that is compatible with ClickHouse. This typically involves ensuring the data types match those expected by ClickHouse and formatting dates, numbers, and strings appropriately. You may also need to rename certain fields to match ClickHouse schema requirements.

Step 4: Install and Configure ClickHouse Client

Download and install the ClickHouse client on your local machine. Configure the client by setting up a connection to your ClickHouse server, ensuring you have the correct hostname, port, username, and password. Test the connection to ensure it works before proceeding.

Step 5: Create Corresponding Tables in ClickHouse

In ClickHouse, create tables that correspond to the structure of the data you exported from PrestaShop. Ensure that the schema matches the data types and structures of the processed data files. Use the ClickHouse client to execute SQL commands for table creation.

Step 6: Load Data into ClickHouse

Utilize the ClickHouse client’s native bulk import capabilities to load data files into the created tables. Use the `INSERT INTO table_name FORMAT CSV` command to import each processed CSV file into its corresponding ClickHouse table. Ensure the data loads correctly by checking for errors or mismatches.

Step 7: Verify Data Integrity and Perform Testing

After loading the data, verify that it has been imported correctly. Run queries to check row counts, data types, and sample records to ensure accuracy. Perform data integrity checks to validate that the data in ClickHouse matches the original data from PrestaShop. Document any discrepancies and resolve them by reprocessing and reloading the data if necessary.

By following these steps, you can effectively transfer data from PrestaShop to ClickHouse without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
