We just launched AI-configured connections in Airbyte. This is a completely new way to set up data pipelines that replaces traditional forms with a conversational AI assistant.
Instead of looking up information and filling in the fields yourself, you now talk to an AI assistant that guides you through connector setup step by step. Setting up new connectors, especially for systems that you are unfamiliar with, has never been easier.
How it works When you select a connector (Postgres, Salesforce, whatever), you're dropped into a chat interface. The AI gives you tailored instructions—one step at a time—based on the actual connector documentation.
No more overwhelming docs. No more guessing which fields are required. Just clear, contextual guidance that adapts to your questions.
Here's what makes it different:
The AI validates your inputs against documentation requirements in real time. If you enter a Snowflake server URL without a region, it catches that before you waste time on a failed connection test.
You can switch between chat and traditional form view at any point. As you provide information in the chat, the form populates automatically. Want to see everything at once? Toggle over. Prefer guided setup? Stay in chat.
OAuth flows trigger automatically when needed. Security-sensitive fields are visually distinct so you know exactly when you're entering credentials. Most importantly, credentials are never passed to the LLM so you maintain data security.
Why this matters Setting up connectors often requires context switching, such as reading docs, finding the right values, and filling in forms. AI collapses that into a single conversation.
Instead of parsing documentation yourself, the AI extracts exactly what you need and presents it when you need it. Instead of wondering if a field value is formatted correctly, you get immediate validation.
For first-time users, this makes getting to your first successful sync significantly faster. For experienced users setting up new connectors, it eliminates the documentation lookup process entirely.
What's included AI-configured connections are available now for all certified connectors in Airbyte Cloud (Standard, Plus, and Pro plans). We're starting with our most reliable, well-documented sources to ensure the experience is consistently good.
A few connectors with complex nested configurations (like File CDK sources and Google Analytics) aren't supported yet, but we'll expand coverage as we refine the system.
Try it yourself Log into Airbyte Cloud, start setting up a new source, and you'll see the AI interface automatically. If you prefer the old way, you can still access traditional forms. We're not taking anything away.
This is just the first step to a more autonomous, user-friendly experience in Airbyte. More AI features are coming, and they’re going to make your life much easier as an Airbyte user.
