Airbyte 2.0: The Data Platform Built for the AI Era

Today, we're launching Airbyte 2.0. It's not just an update. It's a complete reimagining of what a data movement platform should be in the age of AI.

Here's the reality: every company is racing to use AI, build with AI, and integrate AI into their products and services, but most are hitting the same wall. Their data is scattered across dozens of systems, locked behind compliance requirements, or moving too slowly to be useful. You can't build accurate, meaningful AI experiences if your data can't keep up.

We’ve built Airbyte 2.0 to meet the moment: a data movement platform for breaking data silos and enabling every organization to become AI ready without compromising on sovereignty.

Enterprise Flex: Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

We built Enterprise Flex from the ground up to address a glaring gap we saw in the market: the biggest tension in enterprise data has always been control vs. flexibility. Companies want the ease of cloud deployment, but they need to keep sensitive data within their own walls. With Enterprise Flex, you don't have to choose; welcome to hybrid.

We've decoupled the control plane from the data plane. What does that mean? You get a single pane of glass running in the cloud to manage everything, while your actual data never leaves your infrastructure. Your first-party data stays sovereign. Your AI models get the context they need. Everyone wins.

This isn't incremental. It's architectural. And it's exactly what enterprises need to feed their AI systems and unlock the value of their first-party data without compromising on security or compliance.

Key benefits:

Deploy anywhere: cloud, multi-cloud, hybrid cloud
True data sovereignty: data never leaves your environment, Airbyte never stores your data
Become AI ready with a unified platform that allows you to unlock ALL of your first-party data
Predictable capacity-based pricing

Data Activation: Closing the AI Loop

With Data Activation, we're completing the data movement loop. Take your warehouse insights — your customer scores, your product recommendations, your churn predictions, your freshest usage data — and sync them directly into Salesforce, HubSpot, or Customer.io. Your insights become actionable in the tools your teams already use.

AI is not just about ingesting data to train models. It’s about using those models to generate accurate, actionable insights with first-party data and pushing those insights back out to where your decisions are being made. Data Activation and AI are better together.

One platform. Extract, load, and activate. No more duct-taping reverse ETL tools onto your stack.

Key Benefits:

Full data movement: from source to destination and back to your business critical applications to unlock first-party data value
AI readiness: pull high quality data into the applications that need it to ensure LLMs and agents are using the best, freshest data to generate accurate responses or take action

Speed: Because AI Doesn't Wait

We didn't just optimize our connectors. We rearchitected them. MySQL to S3 went from 23 MB/s to 110 MB/s. That's a 4.7x improvement. Across our newly optimized connectors (S3, Azure, BigQuery, ClickHouse), we're seeing 4-10x speed increases.

Why does this matter for AI? Because real-time context is the difference between useful AI and yesterday's news. When your data moves faster, your models train faster, your insights arrive sooner, and your business moves at the speed of your market.

Key benefits:

MySQL to S3: From 23 MB/s to 110 MB/s (4.7x increase)
Postgres to S3: 12x faster; syncing 1TB of data in 2.5 hours instead of 2 days
Get more value from each Data Worker
Dramatically reduce TCO
Speed improvements across S3, Azure, BigQuery, ClickHouse

The Platform Approach

With Airbyte 2.0, we've completely redesigned our pricing plans to match how teams actually grow with data:

Core (formerly OSS)

Our open-source foundation, free forever. For engineering teams who want to run everything themselves and have full control over the code.

Standard (formerly Cloud)

Fully managed, pay-as-you-go. Perfect for teams getting started who want to focus on moving data, not managing infrastructure.

Pro (formerly Teams)

For growing organizations that need more than the basics. Capacity-based pricing gives you predictable costs, plus the governance features (RBAC, SSO, audit logs) that matter as you scale.

Enterprise Flex

The game-changer. All the enterprise features of Pro, but with the flexibility to run your data planes anywhere — cloud, multi-cloud, on-prem, or hybrid. A fully managed control plane with data sovereignty wherever you need it.

Self-Managed Enterprise

For organizations with the strictest security and compliance requirements. Full enterprise features, completely within your infrastructure.

Every tier is built on the same rock-solid platform. The only difference is how much control you need and where you want your data to live.

Capacity Based Pricing: How it Works

Back in January we introduced capacity-based pricing, and we’re now seeing the game changing effect it has on data movement costs - especially for scaling businesses.

Most data movement solutions today are priced based on the amount of data you are moving. But we know that not all data is equally valuable, and volumes of data moved can be very unpredictable.

For our Enterprise (Flex & Self-managed) and Pro plans, instead of pricing by volume, we use a capacity-based model. We find this to be more predictable for customers operating at scale. We look at the number of pipelines you need and how often they need to run. These metrics determine how much capacity you need, measured in units we call Data Workers. An Airbyte Data Worker can run approximately 3 syncs at once.

Simply put, it comes down to the amount of data your organization needs to move at the same time. If you need to move a lot of data at the same time, you will need more capacity. If you don’t need to move that much data at the same time, you’ll need fewer Data Workers. You can add Data Workers based on your needs.

A note on Volume-based pricing:

For some individuals and smaller teams, volume-based pricing still works for their needs. This is why our Standard plan still uses volume as its key metric for determining price.

Choose the right plan based on your team’s unique needs.

What This Means for You

If you're building AI into your products, you need three things:

De-siloed control of all your first-party data
The ability to move it fast and securely
A way to activate insights where they matter

Airbyte 2.0 delivers all three in one platform.

We're not just keeping pace with the AI revolution. We're building the infrastructure that makes it possible. At the end of the day, the companies that win with AI won't be the ones with the fanciest models. They'll be the ones who can actually use their data.

Welcome to Airbyte 2.0. Let's build the future together.
