In December we launched the Airbyte + Motherduck hackathon to help promote the new Motherduck Destination connector. We were excited to see what the community would build. And you didn't disappoint! We had more than 130 submissions with use cases ranging from stock market analysis, IoT, video, education, and more. The creativity really blew us away. It was a challenge to identify a shortlist of finalists, and eventually the winners, but here we are.... It's time to announce our winners!

3rd Place: Analysr

In 3rd place is Analysr by Btkcodedev. Analysr scans customer reviews for word sentiment, aspect analysis, and text analysis. With a beautiful UI written in React and View.js, and comprehensive architecture stack including Hugging Face, Groq and Mistral.ai, this submission clearly showed how much effort was put into it and something we could see customers using every day with all of those online purchases. Great job! You can also try it out for yourself.

2nd Place: Zurich Local

In 2nd place, and a judging favorite (we are a sucker for a great Streamlit UI) is Zurich Local by Lukas Stolz. It uses Open Government Data (OGD) of the city of Zurich, Switzerland, to display things to do, where to sleep, eat and drink and what to see in and around the city. In total there are 11 different categories to explore.The app ingests data from zurich tourism using Airbyte, stores the data on Motherduck, transforms it with dbt and serves everything up in a beautiful UI written in Streamlit. Now we just have convince the marketing team that we should host our next Community meetup in Zurich and put this app to a test! Give it a try.

1st Place: AirQuack

Drum roll please........our first place winner is AirQuack by fhameed1. AirQuack is an industrial IoT sensor monitoring and analytics platform demonstrating modern data stack integration using FastAPI, Airbyte, and MotherDuck. Check out the loom video below. This submission really impressed us by tackling a complex problem and coming up with a creative solution using FastAPI to simulate IoT sensors, generating realistic machine data (temperature, vibration, RPM) with configurable anomaly rates and using Airbyte to ingest data in real-time and moving it to Motherduck for natural language processing. Fantastic stuff!

Honorable Mentions

Judging really came down to the wire, with less than 10 points between the top 5 submissions. We'd be remiss not shouting out the amazing work put into Voice2Note and DataBaddies. Both of these solutions really impressed us with the work and creativity put into them. Boy, it was a nailbiter for the judges!
