As 2023 comes to a close, we want to reflect on everything that our team and community have accomplished and learned over the past year. Our product, our community, and our team has grown up a lot this year and there is a lot to celebrate.

At Airbyte we are building 1 of the 3 pillars of data infrastructure - Data movement -, the two other being Data Storage & Data Processing.

Our goal is to make data movement effortless so you can focus on extracting value and insights from your data to make the best decisions you can.

Launched the No Code Connector Builder UI in addition to our Low Code CDK, so you can build connectors in minutes. Over 2,000 connectors have been built with it.
Hacktoberfest: We joined forces with Hashnode this year, and the community migrated 70 connectors to our low-code framework, fixed 42 bugs, and wrote 24 quickstarts!
Hosted our 2nd annual virtual conference, move(data). 5,000+ folks signed up virtually to hear 35 speakers over 8 hours of lightning talks.
AI use cases unlocked with unstructured data sources and vector DB destinations.
The official Airbyte API and Terraform Provider became available on Airbyte Cloud and Open Source.
Speed - we 10x’d our database replication speed to support larger datasets.

What’s next in 2024

2023 was a fantastic year and we are just getting started. Here are a few things we’re excited about in 2024:

Speed and reliability - We’ve made a lot of progress so far but there is still plenty to do. As an infrastructure product, Airbyte has to work all the time. We have a lot of exciting improvements planned such as improving our API connector speed, prohibiting dropped records, certifying more connectors, providing better resilience when connectors stop working, and much more.
Ubiquitous pipelines - we are aiming to support 500 high-quality connectors by the end of 2024.
ELTP (extract, load, transform, publish) - one of our key focuses next year will be closing the data movement loop and bringing the early version of Publish as part of Airbyte.
Data lakehouses - A lot of our time in 2023 was spent on Data Warehouses. Between formats like Iceberg, Hudi, and Delta, what's possible on a Data Lake is fast approaching what's possible on a warehouse. Stay tuned for some new partnerships & product releases early next year!
Self-Managed Enterprise - In the second half of 2023, we built and distributed the initial features and capabilities of Airbyte Enterprise. Our goal here is to bring more control to users and an ability to install & operate Airbyte across your entire organization. Keep an eye on our public roadmap on GitHub as we release more of these advanced features in the coming months.
Scaling our Community - Finally, during 2023 we were blown away by how active our community has been. We are so grateful for your contributions, but you may have noticed we hit some scaling limitations with the sheer number of contributions compared to our team size. Next year, we are going to invest in more programs for you, with the goal of increasing the number of PRs and contributions we review and making contributing to Airbyte frictionless.
