How to load data from Monday to S3 Glue

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your Monday data into S3 Glue within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a Monday connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up S3 Glue for your extracted Monday data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the Monday to S3 Glue in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Extract Data from Monday.com

To begin, manually export the data from Monday.com. Log into your Monday.com account and navigate to the board containing the data you wish to export. Use the export feature (usually found under board settings) to download the data in a CSV format. Save this file locally on your computer.

Step 2: Prepare Your AWS Environment

Ensure you have an AWS account. Navigate to the AWS Management Console and create an S3 bucket if you haven't already. This bucket will store your Monday.com data. Make sure to configure the necessary permissions and access policies to allow data upload and access.

Step 3: Upload Data to S3

Using the AWS Management Console, upload your exported CSV file to your S3 bucket. Navigate to the S3 service, select your bucket, and use the "Upload" button to add your CSV file. Confirm that the file is correctly uploaded and accessible.

Step 4: Set Up AWS Glue

Go to the AWS Glue console and set up a new Glue Crawler. This will help you catalog the data in your S3 bucket. Define a new data source pointing to your S3 bucket and configure the crawler to create a new database or use an existing one. Run the crawler to populate the Glue Data Catalog with your CSV data schema.

Step 5: Define Glue ETL Job

Once the data is cataloged, create a new ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) job in AWS Glue. Specify the data source (your S3 bucket and cataloged data) and define the target where you want the transformed data to be stored. You can use the Glue ETL script editor to modify the data if needed.

Step 6: Run the Glue ETL Job

Execute the Glue ETL job by selecting the job from the Glue console and choosing "Run Job." Monitor the job's progress through the console to ensure it completes successfully. Any errors or logs will be available for troubleshooting if needed.

Step 7: Verify Data in S3

Once the ETL job is complete, verify that the transformed data is stored correctly in the specified S3 bucket. Use the AWS S3 console to navigate to your bucket and check the contents. Ensure that the data is in the desired format and structure needed for your use case.

By following these steps, you can effectively transfer and transform your data from Monday.com to AWS S3 and Glue without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
