One of the things I like most about working in tech is those moments where what you’re building finally feels real. It never gets old, and today was one of those moments.
I opened ChatGPT, clicked on Apps, typed "Airbyte"... and there we were.
The Airbyte Agent MCP is live in the OpenAI app market. And honestly? It's kind of wild.
A couple clicks to connect, and ChatGPT gets live access to your CRMs, support platforms, payment systems, code repos, all of it. Salesforce, GitHub, Zendesk, Gong, Stripe, HubSpot, Jira. The list keeps going, and we're adding new integrations every week.
This Isn't Just Another Plugin I know, I know. Every app marketplace is full of integrations that promise the world and deliver a glorified webhook. This is different. Let me tell you why I'm fired up about it.
Most of the integrations built for ChatGPT connect to a single tool. One plugin or MCP for Salesforce, GitHub, etc. Each with its own auth, data model, and different ways of working. You end up having to duct-tape a dozen connections together and praying they all work at the same time just so you can do your job.
With Airbyte, you only have to connect one MCP server to get access to 50+ sources (with more coming each week). ChatGPT talks to one server which handles the routing, the auth, the data access and everything it needs to work with your tools. This isn’t just simpler, it’s also more secure.
One MCP server, your entire business context. I think that’s awesome, and changes the scalability game entirely.
The Context Store Is the Secret Weapon OK, here's where it gets really fun.
When ChatGPT asks for data through Airbyte, it's not just relaying raw API calls to every source system one at a time. Our Context Store continuously replicates and indexes your data across sources so searches come back in milliseconds. Not after a chain of paginated API calls.
You can think of this as a database built for agents, optimized to give ChatGPT a very fast search engine for your business data, always fresh and ready to query.
What does that actually mean for you? Ask ChatGPT about a customer and get back their CRM record, open support tickets, AND recent call transcripts. In one response. From multiple systems. Fast.
On top of that, every ChatGPT conversation has a limited amount of information it can keep in mind at one time. If the agent has to load a lot of raw data just to answer your questions, that space fills up quickly. Airbyte enables you to do more in the same chat before hitting limits.
It’s simple. Fewer tokens and faster access means you get more bang for your buck. Your ChatGPT plan goes further and lets you do more.
Things You Can Do Right Now Here are some things people are already doing with the ChatGPT plugin:
Pulling deal summaries from Salesforce with context from Gong call transcripts Looking up open GitHub issues alongside the related Jira tickets Searching across all your connected sources in plain English Once your real operational data is plugged into ChatGPT, the use cases just start stacking up. I keep finding new ones every time I sit down with it. And if you'd rather wire the same sources into your own agent harness, the Agent CLI gives you command-line access to every connected source.
Go Try It Seriously, open ChatGPT, search "Airbyte" in Apps, and connect it to your systems. Right now.
We're just getting started, and the momentum is real. New integrations shipping weekly. I’m excited to see what you build with Airbyte!
