How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Identify and Download Required Font Files
First, identify which Google Webfonts you need to move. Visit the Google Fonts website, search for the specific fonts, and download them to your local machine. This will typically provide you with a zip file containing the font files in various formats (e.g., TTF, WOFF).
Step 2: Extract Font Files Locally
Once downloaded, extract the zip file to access the individual font files. These will usually be in a directory structure organized by font family and style. Ensure you have all necessary files such as .ttf, .woff, and .woff2, as they are needed for various web applications.
Step 3: Convert Font Files to Compatible Format
Firebolt may not support all font file formats directly. Use a local font conversion tool (e.g., FontForge or online tools like FontSquirrel) to convert the font files into a format compatible with your Firebolt setup, typically .woff2 for web usage.
Step 4: Organize and Prepare Data for Upload
Create a directory structure on your local machine that mirrors how you want the fonts to be organized in Firebolt. This might mean creating folders for each font family and style. Ensure that all file names and paths are consistent and descriptive to avoid confusion later.
Step 5: Upload Font Files to Firebolt
Access the Firebolt data warehouse through its user interface. Use the built-in file upload function to manually upload your prepared font files. Organize them in the Firebolt environment as per the directory structure you prepared locally.
Step 6: Register Fonts in Firebolt
Once uploaded, register the fonts within Firebolt so that they can be accessed by your applications. This step might involve adding metadata or creating entries in Firebolt"s system to ensure the fonts are recognized and usable. Consult Firebolt"s documentation for specifics on registering and managing custom assets.
Step 7: Test and Validate Font Usage
After registration, test the fonts to ensure they are functioning correctly within your applications. This involves linking the fonts in your application code as you would with any other asset and checking for rendering issues or inconsistencies. Adjust paths and configurations as needed until the fonts display correctly.
By following these steps, you can manually transfer and set up Google Webfonts in Firebolt without the need for third-party connectors or integrations.
