How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Timely's Data Export Capabilities
Start by exploring Timely's native data export options. Typically, Timely allows you to export data in formats such as CSV or Excel. Familiarize yourself with the process of exporting the data you need, ensuring you have the necessary permissions to access and export the data.
Step 2: Export Data from Timely
Once you have identified the data you need and understand the export process, proceed to export the data from Timely. Follow the platform’s instructions to download the desired data set, ideally in a CSV format for ease of use.
Step 3: Set Up a MongoDB Database
If you haven't already, set up a MongoDB database. Install MongoDB on your server or use a cloud-based solution like MongoDB Atlas. Create a new database and collection where you plan to store the data exported from Timely.
Step 4: Prepare the CSV Data for Import
Open the CSV file you exported from Timely. Review the data to ensure it is formatted correctly. Cleanse the data if necessary, removing any duplicates or inconsistencies. Convert any necessary fields to match the data types expected by MongoDB (e.g., converting date strings to ISODate format).
Step 5: Convert CSV to JSON
MongoDB imports data in JSON format. Use a script or command-line tool to convert your CSV data to JSON format. Tools like `csvtojson` can be helpful. Ensure that the JSON structure matches the schema you designed for your MongoDB collection.
Step 6: Import JSON Data into MongoDB
Use MongoDB's native import tool, `mongoimport`, to load your JSON data into the database. Run the `mongoimport` command, specifying the database and collection name, as well as the path to your JSON file. Ensure you include any necessary options to match your data structure (e.g., --jsonArray if your JSON file is an array of documents).
Step 7: Verify the Data Import
After importing the data, verify the process by querying your MongoDB collection. Use the MongoDB shell or a GUI tool like MongoDB Compass to check that the data has been imported correctly. Conduct sample queries to ensure data integrity and completeness, making any necessary adjustments if discrepancies are found.
By following these steps, you can effectively transfer data from Timely to MongoDB without relying on third-party connectors or integrations, maintaining full control over the data migration process.
