Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand the Timely API
Begin by reviewing the Timely API documentation to understand the available endpoints, authentication methods, and data structures. Ensure you have the necessary API credentials and permissions to access the data you wish to migrate.
Step 2: Set Up Elasticsearch Environment
Install and configure Elasticsearch on your server or local machine. Ensure that it is running and accessible. Create an index in Elasticsearch where the Timely data will be stored, defining the appropriate mappings for your data types.
Step 3: Develop a Script for Data Extraction
Write a script in a programming language such as Python to extract data from Timely. Use HTTP requests to interact with the Timely API, authenticate using your credentials, and fetch the required data. Handle pagination if the data set is large.
Step 4: Transform Data to Elasticsearch Format
Convert the data from Timely's JSON format to match the structure required by your Elasticsearch index. This may involve renaming fields, changing data types, or flattening nested structures to ensure compatibility with your Elasticsearch mapping.
Step 5: Insert Data into Elasticsearch
Extend your script to insert the transformed data into Elasticsearch. Use Elasticsearch's bulk API to efficiently handle large volumes of data, enabling you to send multiple records in a single request. Ensure that the data is being indexed correctly by checking Elasticsearch's response.
Step 6: Handle Errors and Exceptions
Implement error handling in your script to manage potential issues like network failures, API rate limits, or data inconsistencies. Log errors for further analysis and implement retry logic where necessary to ensure data integrity.
Step 7: Validate Data Transfer
After the migration, verify that all data has been correctly transferred from Timely to Elasticsearch. Perform spot-checks and data integrity checks by comparing counts and sample records between the source and destination. Adjust your script to fix any discrepancies, and re-run the migration if needed.
By following these steps, you can efficiently move data from Timely to Elasticsearch using a custom-built solution tailored to your specific needs, without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
