We are thrilled to announce the Airbyte dbt Package Hackathon for August 2024! We’re embarking on an exciting journey to revolutionize data integration and we want you to be part of it. This hackathon presents a fantastic opportunity for developers across the globe to push the boundaries of data integration building dbt models to allow users to extract valuable insights from their connector data.
By participating, you’ll have a chance to play a critical role in shaping the boundaries of data integration and be recognized for your innovative contributions to the open-source community. Not to mention, you also stand a chance to win a part of our massive prize pool!

Hackathon Guidelines
- Select an issue you want to work on from our pre-defined list (It will be released August 1).
- Comment on the issue you want to work on, so the Airbyte team can assign that issue to you.
- Create the dbt model and write the documentation explaining clearly what steps and parameters are required to run the model using the latest version of Airbyte Source connector. We strongly recommend to follow the Tutorial provided in the Resources section.
- Join our Slack to discuss and ask questions in #airbyte-dbt-packages
- You can only work on one package at a time.
- You will only be able to work on a single issue, and will only be able to get a new one after your pull request get merged.
- Make sure to resolve all suggestions from the Airbyte team.
- Must contain the docs to explain the feature, parameters and current limitations.
- If you have been assigned to one issue you need to give an update at least every 5 days about the status of the task, tasks without update will be reassigned and won't be accepted anymore.

You’re only allowed to work in a single package each time but you're more than welcome to submit multiple packages if you can get a new assignment after your first!
Absolutely! Forming a team with friends to work on a project is allowed. However, only one person can submit the project. If your team ends up winning the prize, the prize will be awarded to the individual who submitted the project.
Winners of the hackathon will be contacted via email. We will use the email address that you provided when submitting your project. Winners will also be announced in the Airbyte Newsletter, so make sure to sign up :).
Payouts will be processed via PayPal.
Hackathon Best Practices
- Assess the complexity of the package you want to work on and plan accordingly. We strongly recommend to work with Sources (data) you have previous knowledge.
- Explain in your submission each detail it makes quicker to review your contribution.
- Collaboration with other people can speed up the development process and improve the final product.
- Don't hesitate to ask questions or share ideas in our Slack channel.
- Make sure to test your work before submission.
