Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Before transferring data from Coin API to Elasticsearch, familiarize yourself with the Coin API documentation to understand the endpoints, data formats, authentication methods, and rate limits. Similarly, ensure you understand the structure and capabilities of Elasticsearch, including its indexing and querying capabilities.
Coin API requires an API key for access. Sign up on Coin API's website to obtain your API key. This key will be used in the request headers to authenticate your API calls and gain access to the data.
Write a script in a programming language of your choice (e.g., Python, Node.js) to send HTTP GET requests to the Coin API endpoints. Use a library like `requests` in Python to handle the API calls, passing your API key in the header for authentication. Parse the JSON response to extract the relevant data.
The data retrieved from Coin API may not be in a structure directly suitable for Elasticsearch. Transform this data into a format that aligns with your Elasticsearch index mapping. Ensure each document includes necessary fields such as a unique identifier, timestamp, and any nested objects are flattened or appropriately structured.
Before pushing data, set up an index in Elasticsearch where the data will reside. Define the index mapping based on the transformed data structure. Use Elasticsearch's REST API to create the index and specify any necessary settings or mappings to optimize performance and ensure data types are correctly interpreted.
Develop a script to ingest the transformed data into Elasticsearch. Use the Elasticsearch REST API to send HTTP POST requests with the data. In Python, you can use the `elasticsearch` library to simplify this process. The script should handle batching of data (if necessary) to optimize performance and manage Elasticsearch limits.
To ensure data is regularly updated, automate your scripts using a task scheduler like cron (on Unix-based systems) or Task Scheduler (on Windows). Set an appropriate frequency based on data availability and API rate limits. Ensure your scripts include error handling to manage API failures or network issues gracefully.
By following these steps, you can effectively move data from Coin API to Elasticsearch without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
