How to load data from Flexport to Clickhouse

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your Flexport data into Clickhouse within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines
Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.
After Airbyte
Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a Flexport connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up Clickhouse for your extracted Flexport data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the Flexport to Clickhouse in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Export Data from Flexport

Begin by exporting the data you need from Flexport. Flexport typically allows data export via CSV or Excel files. Access the Flexport dashboard, navigate to the data section, and use the export functionality to obtain your data in a CSV format, as this is well-suited for import into ClickHouse.

Once you have your data in a CSV file, inspect it to ensure it is clean and formatted correctly for ClickHouse. Check for consistent data types, remove any unnecessary columns, and ensure there are no corrupt or missing data entries that could cause issues during import.

Ensure you have a ClickHouse server set up and running. You can do this by downloading the ClickHouse server from the official ClickHouse website and following the installation instructions for your specific operating system. Confirm that your ClickHouse instance is accessible and ready to receive data.

Define the schema in ClickHouse that matches the structure of the data you are importing. Use the `CREATE TABLE` SQL command to establish a table with columns and data types that align with those in your CSV file. This step is crucial to ensure data integrity during the import process.

Move the CSV file to the server where ClickHouse is running. This can be done using secure file transfer protocols such as SCP or SFTP, depending on your server's configuration and access permissions. Ensure the file is placed in a directory accessible by the ClickHouse server.

Use the `clickhouse-client` command-line tool to import the data from the CSV file into the ClickHouse table. Execute a command like:
```bash
clickhouse-client --query="INSERT INTO your_table_name FORMAT CSV" < /path/to/yourfile.csv
```
Ensure that the file path is correct and that the data format specified matches the CSV structure.

After the import process completes, run queries on the ClickHouse database to verify that the data has been imported correctly. Check for data consistency, ensure all rows were imported, and perform spot checks against the original CSV file to confirm accuracy.

By following these steps, you can successfully move data from Flexport to a ClickHouse warehouse without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
