Chase Zieman

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Understand Freshcaller API Endpoints
Before you begin, familiarize yourself with the Freshcaller API documentation. Identify the specific API endpoints that provide access to the data you wish to move. This includes understanding authentication mechanisms, rate limits, and data formats (usually JSON).
Step 2: Set Up Apache Kafka
Install and configure Apache Kafka on a server or your local machine. Ensure you have a running Kafka broker and a Zookeeper instance. Create a Kafka topic where the data from Freshcaller will be published. This will involve using Kafka command-line tools to manage topics.
Step 3: Authenticate and Retrieve Data from Freshcaller
Use a programming language like Python or Node.js to write a script that authenticates with Freshcaller using API keys or OAuth2 tokens. Implement functions to make HTTP requests to the Freshcaller API endpoints you identified. Parse the JSON responses to extract the relevant data fields you need.
Step 4: Transform Data if Necessary
Depending on your requirements, you might need to transform the data obtained from Freshcaller into a format suitable for Kafka. This might involve converting data structures, filtering fields, or aggregating information. Use your script to handle these transformations.
Step 5: Produce Messages to Kafka
In your script, use a Kafka client library appropriate for your chosen programming language to produce messages to the Kafka topic. Ensure that the data you publish is in a serialized format that Kafka can understand, such as Avro, JSON, or Protobuf.
Step 6: Implement Error Handling and Logging
Add robust error handling and logging to your script. This includes retry mechanisms for API calls that fail due to transient errors, logging of successful data transfers, and capturing exceptions during data processing or message publishing to Kafka.
Step 7: Schedule and Automate the Data Transfer
To ensure continuous data flow from Freshcaller to Kafka, set up a scheduler to run your script at regular intervals. Use cron jobs on Linux or Task Scheduler on Windows to automate this process. Ensure your scheduler has permissions to execute the script and that it runs in the correct environment with access to necessary libraries and network permissions.
By following these steps, you can effectively transfer data from Freshcaller to Kafka without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
