Begin by logging into your Smartsheet account. Navigate to the sheet you want to export. Click on "File" in the top menu and select "Export." Choose "Export to Microsoft Excel" from the dropdown menu. This will download the sheet as an Excel (.xlsx) file to your computer.
Locate the downloaded Excel file on your computer and open it using Microsoft Excel or any compatible spreadsheet application. Review the data to ensure everything has been exported correctly and is ready for transfer.
Check the Excel file for any formatting or data issues that might cause problems during the import to Google Sheets. Ensure that all necessary data is present and organized in the desired format. Save any changes made to the file.
Open your web browser and go to the Google Sheets website (sheets.google.com). Sign in with your Google account if you are not already logged in. Once logged in, open an existing Google Sheet or create a new one where you want to import the Smartsheet data.
In Google Sheets, click on "File" in the menu, then select "Import." In the import dialog, click on the "Upload" tab, then drag and drop the Excel file or click "Select a file from your device" to upload the .xlsx file you downloaded from Smartsheet.
After uploading the file, a dialog box will appear with import options. Choose "Replace spreadsheet" if you want to replace all data in the Google Sheet with the imported data. Alternatively, select "Insert new sheet(s)" if you want to add the data to a new sheet within the same Google Sheets file. Once the import is complete, review the data in Google Sheets to confirm it has been imported correctly. Check for any discrepancies or formatting issues that may have occurred during the transfer.
