“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Start by logging into your SurveyMonkey account. Navigate to the survey whose data you want to export. Click on the "Analyze Results" tab, and then select "Export" from the options. Choose the format that suits your needs, such as CSV or Excel, and download the file to your local machine.
Open the exported CSV or Excel file using a data processing tool like Python with Pandas, or any spreadsheet software. Inspect the structure of the data to understand the columns and their corresponding data types. This will be crucial for mapping the data to DynamoDB's schema.
Log into your AWS Management Console and navigate to DynamoDB. Create a new table by specifying the table name and defining the primary key attributes (Partition Key and optionally, Sort Key) that should uniquely identify each item. Make sure the data types of the keys are compatible with your SurveyMonkey data.
If you are using Python, install the AWS SDK (Boto3) by running `pip install boto3`. This library will allow you to interact with DynamoDB using Python scripts. Ensure you have configured your AWS credentials locally using the AWS CLI (`aws configure`) or environment variables.
Develop a script in Python (or another programming language with AWS SDK support) to read the parsed SurveyMonkey data and transform it into a format suitable for DynamoDB. This includes converting data types as needed and creating dictionaries or JSON objects that match the table's schema.
Use the DynamoDB `batch_write_item` API call to insert data into your table. Due to DynamoDB's limits on write operations, ensure that your script handles batching appropriately, usually in segments of 25 items or less. Implement error handling to manage retries in case of throttling or other issues.
Once the data is loaded, verify the integrity and accuracy of the data in DynamoDB. You can do this by querying the table using the AWS Management Console or writing a script that retrieves and checks the data against your original SurveyMonkey export. Ensure all expected records are present and correctly formatted.
By following these steps, you can efficiently move data from SurveyMonkey to DynamoDB without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
