What our users say

"The intake layer of Datadog’s self-serve analytics platform is largely built on Airbyte.Airbyte’s ease of use and extensibility allowed any team in the company to push their data into the platform - without assistance from the data team!"

“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

“We chose Airbyte for its ease of use, its pricing scalability and its absence of vendor lock-in. Having a lean team makes them our top criteria. The value of being able to scale and execute at a high level by maximizing resources is immense”
- Create a TikTok Ads account if you don’t already have one.
- Apply for developer access on the TikTok for Business website to use the TikTok Marketing API.
- Get your API credentials after your application is approved. You will need the Access Token to authenticate your API requests.
- Identify the data you want to export from TikTok (e.g., campaign performance, ad spend, etc.).
- Study the TikTok Marketing API documentation to understand the endpoints you need to hit to retrieve the data you want.
- Choose a programming language that you are comfortable with and that can make HTTP requests (e.g., Python, Node.js, etc.).
- Write a script that makes authenticated requests to the TikTok Marketing API. Here’s a pseudocode example using Python:
import requests
import json
# API endpoint for retrieving the desired data
api_endpoint = "https://business-api.tiktok.com/open_api/v1.2/reports/integrated/get/"
# Your API parameters
params = {
"advertiser_id": "your_advertiser_id",
"start_date": "YYYY-MM-DD",
"end_date": "YYYY-MM-DD",
# Other parameters based on your requirements
}
# HTTP headers with your access token
headers = {
"Content-Type": "application/json",
"Access-Token": "your_access_token"
}
# Make the API request
response = requests.get(api_endpoint, headers=headers, params=params)
# Check if the request was successful
if response.status_code == 200:
data = response.json()
# Process the data as needed
else:
print("Error:", response.status_code)
- Parse the JSON response from the API to extract the data you need.
- Format the data into a structure that can be imported into Google Sheets (e.g., a list of lists or a CSV format).
- Create a new Google Sheet where you will import the data.
- Label the columns according to the data you’re importing from TikTok.
- Use Google Sheets API or Google Apps Script to automate the import process. For this guide, we will use Google Apps Script.
- Write a Google Apps Script to import the formatted data:
- Go to your Google Sheet, click on Extensions > Apps Script.
- Write a script to parse the data and append it to the sheet:
function importDataToSheet(data) {
var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet().getActiveSheet();
data.forEach(function(row) {
sheet.appendRow(row);
});
}
- Expose the function as a web app (Publish > Deploy as web app) if you want to trigger the import from your script.
- Call the Google Apps Script web app URL from your script after you have the data ready for import.
- Send the formatted data as a POST request to the web app URL.
- Set up a cron job or use the time-driven triggers in Google Apps Script to regularly run your data retrieval script and update your Google Sheet.
Notes:
- Always ensure that you are complying with TikTok’s API terms of service when accessing and using the data.
- Test your scripts thoroughly to ensure that data is being retrieved and formatted correctly.
- Handle errors and exceptions in your scripts to deal with API rate limits or downtimes.
- Consider data privacy and security when transferring data between services.
FAQs
What is ETL?
ETL, an acronym for Extract, Transform, Load, is a vital data integration process. It involves extracting data from diverse sources, transforming it into a usable format, and loading it into a database, data warehouse or data lake. This process enables meaningful data analysis, enhancing business intelligence.
TikTok for Business provides a rich analytics data source for companies seeking to understand consumer behavior and trends. With billions of daily video views and interactions, TikTok offers invaluable insights into audience preferences, content resonance, and engagement patterns. Businesses can leverage TikTok's built-in analytics tools to access granular data on video performance metrics, audience demographics, content categorizations, and more. This data can fuel advanced analytics initiatives, machine learning models, and data-driven decision-making processes. TikTok's APIs enable developers to integrate the platform's data with their existing analytics infrastructures, facilitating custom analyses and data blending with other sources.
TikTok for Business Marketing's API provides access to a wide range of data that can be used to optimize marketing campaigns and improve audience engagement. The types of data that can be accessed through the API can be categorized as follows:

What is ELT?
ELT, standing for Extract, Load, Transform, is a modern take on the traditional ETL data integration process. In ELT, data is first extracted from various sources, loaded directly into a data warehouse, and then transformed. This approach enhances data processing speed, analytical flexibility and autonomy.
Difference between ETL and ELT?
ETL and ELT are critical data integration strategies with key differences. ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) transforms data before loading, ideal for structured data. In contrast, ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) loads data before transformation, perfect for processing large, diverse data sets in modern data warehouses. ELT is becoming the new standard as it offers a lot more flexibility and autonomy to data analysts.
