How to load data from Ashby to MySQL Destination

Learn how to use Airbyte to synchronize your Ashby data into MySQL Destination within minutes.

Building your pipeline or Using Airbyte

Airbyte is the only open source solution empowering data teams  to meet all their growing custom business demands in the new AI era.

Building in-house pipelines

Bespoke pipelines are:
  • Inconsistent and inaccurate data
  • Laborious and expensive
  • Brittle and inflexible
Furthermore, you will need to build and maintain Y x Z pipelines with Y sources and Z destinations to cover all your needs.

After Airbyte

Airbyte connections are:
  • Reliable and accurate
  • Extensible and scalable for all your needs
  • Deployed and governed your way
All your pipelines in minutes, however custom they are, thanks to Airbyte’s connector marketplace and AI Connector Builder.

Start syncing with Airbyte in 3 easy steps within 10 minutes

Set up a Ashby connector in Airbyte

Connect to or one of 400+ pre-built or 10,000+ custom connectors through simple account authentication.

Set up MySQL Destination for your extracted Ashby data

Select where you want to import data from your source to. You can also choose other cloud data warehouses, databases, data lakes, vector databases, or any other supported Airbyte destinations.

Configure the Ashby to MySQL Destination in Airbyte

This includes selecting the data you want to extract - streams and columns -, the sync frequency, where in the destination you want that data to be loaded.

How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Understand Ashby Data Export Options

Before you begin, ensure you understand Ashby's export capabilities. Access Ashby and determine if it supports data export via CSV, JSON, or other formats. Check for any built-in export tools or APIs that allow you to extract data.

Step 2: Prepare Your Data Export

Once you have identified the export options, prepare the data for export. If Ashby supports CSV export, for example, select the data fields you need, filter the data as necessary, and export the dataset to your local machine. Ensure the exported file is formatted correctly and contains all the necessary data.

Step 3: Set Up a MySQL Environment

Ensure you have access to a MySQL server where you can import the data. This could be a local installation on your machine or a remote server. Make sure you have the necessary credentials and permissions to create a database and tables.

Step 4: Create a MySQL Database and Tables

Design the schema for your MySQL database to accommodate the data from Ashby. Use MySQL commands to create the database and tables. For example:
```sql
CREATE DATABASE ashby_data;
USE ashby_data;
CREATE TABLE employee_data (
id INT PRIMARY KEY,
name VARCHAR(255),
position VARCHAR(255),
salary DECIMAL(10, 2)
);
```
Ensure the table structure matches the fields from your exported Ashby data.

Step 5: Convert Exported Data for MySQL Compatibility

If your data export is in CSV format, ensure it is compatible with MySQL's `LOAD DATA INFILE` command. Clean and format the data as needed, ensuring field separators and line endings are consistent. If necessary, use a text editor or script to make adjustments.

Step 6: Import the Data into MySQL

Use MySQL's `LOAD DATA INFILE` command to import the data into your database. For example:
```sql
LOAD DATA INFILE '/path/to/exported_data.csv'
INTO TABLE employee_data
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
ENCLOSED BY '"'
LINES TERMINATED BY '\n'
IGNORE 1 ROWS;
```
Adjust the file path, field separators, and other options to match your data file and table structure.

Step 7: Verify and Clean Up Data

After importing the data, verify its integrity by running select queries to check that the data has been imported correctly. For instance:
```sql
SELECT * FROM employee_data LIMIT 10;
```
Check for any inconsistencies or errors in the data. If necessary, perform additional data cleaning or transformation using SQL queries.

By following these steps, you can manually transfer data from Ashby to a MySQL database without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
