How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from EmailOctopus
Begin by logging into your EmailOctopus account. Navigate to the section where your data, such as subscriber lists or campaign results, resides. Use the export functionality provided by EmailOctopus to download the data as a CSV file. Ensure you select the necessary fields you wish to transfer to ClickHouse.
Step 2: Prepare the CSV File
Once you have the CSV file, review its structure. Check for any data inconsistencies or formatting issues, such as missing headers or incorrect data types. Make any necessary corrections to ensure a smooth import process into ClickHouse.
Step 3: Install ClickHouse Client
Download and install the ClickHouse client on your local machine or server. This client will allow you to interact with your ClickHouse database from the command line. Follow the official ClickHouse documentation for installation instructions specific to your operating system.
Step 4: Create a ClickHouse Table
Access your ClickHouse database using the installed client. Use the SQL `CREATE TABLE` statement to define a new table that matches the structure of your CSV file. Specify appropriate data types for each column, ensuring they align with the data types in your CSV.
Step 5: Transfer CSV File to ClickHouse Server
Transfer the prepared CSV file to the server where ClickHouse is installed. You can use secure copy protocol (SCP) or file transfer protocol (FTP) for this purpose. Ensure the file is placed in a directory accessible by ClickHouse.
Step 6: Import Data into ClickHouse
Use the ClickHouse client to execute an `INSERT INTO` operation using the `clickhouse-client` command. Specify the table you created and use the `FORMAT CSV` directive to import the data from your CSV file into ClickHouse. The command will look similar to:

```
Adjust the file path and table name as necessary.
Step 7: Verify and Validate Data Import
Once the import process is complete, verify that the data has been correctly imported into ClickHouse. Use `SELECT` queries to check a sample of the data and ensure that no rows are missing or incorrectly inserted. Validate that the data types and values align with your expectations.
