“Airbyte helped us accelerate our progress by years, compared to our competitors. We don’t need to worry about connectors and focus on creating value for our users instead of building infrastructure. That’s priceless. The time and energy saved allows us to disrupt and grow faster.”

Rupak Patel
"With Airbyte, we could just push a few buttons, allow API access, and bring all the data into Google BigQuery. By blending all the different marketing data sources, we can gain valuable insights."
How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Access Marketo API
To extract data from Marketo, start by accessing its REST API. You'll need to have the necessary API access credentials, which include the client ID and client secret. These can be created in the Marketo Admin panel under the 'LaunchPoint' section by setting up a new service.
Step 2: Authenticate and Obtain Access Token
Use the client ID and client secret to authenticate and obtain an access token. You can achieve this by making a POST request to the Marketo Identity service endpoint. The access token is required for making further API requests to retrieve data.
Step 3: Retrieve Data from Marketo
With the access token, make API requests to the appropriate Marketo endpoints to retrieve the desired data. For example, you could use the Leads API to fetch lead data or the Activities API for activity data. Ensure pagination is handled if you're dealing with large datasets.
Step 4: Transform Data for Elasticsearch
Once the data is retrieved from Marketo, transform it into a format suitable for Elasticsearch. This usually involves converting the data into JSON format, as Elasticsearch requires JSON documents for indexing.
Step 5: Set Up Elasticsearch Index
Before importing data, set up an index in Elasticsearch where the data will reside. Use the Elasticsearch API to create an index and define the necessary mappings to match the structure of your Marketo data. Mappings define how documents and their fields are stored and indexed.
Step 6: Insert Data into Elasticsearch
Use the Elasticsearch Bulk API to insert the transformed Marketo data. The Bulk API is efficient for inserting large amounts of data by allowing you to perform multiple index operations in a single request. Ensure that data is correctly formatted in the bulk request format.
Step 7: Verify and Monitor Data Integrity
After data insertion, verify that the data has been correctly indexed in Elasticsearch. Perform search queries to ensure the data is searchable and intact. Set up monitoring and logging to track data integrity and catch any anomalies or errors in the data transfer process.
By following these steps, you can transfer data from Marketo to an Elasticsearch destination without the need for third-party connectors or integrations.
