How to Sync to Manually
Begin by obtaining access to the Zendesk Talk API. You'll need an API token, which can be generated in your Zendesk account under the API settings. Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access call data from Zendesk Talk.
Use your Zendesk account credentials and the API token to authenticate requests. You can use basic authentication by combining your email address/token with Base64 encoding. This step is crucial for securely accessing the Zendesk Talk API.
Utilize the Zendesk Talk API to fetch data. You can retrieve call records and associated metadata by making HTTP GET requests to the appropriate API endpoints, such as `/api/v2/channels/voice/calls.json`. Ensure you handle pagination if your data set is large.
Once you've extracted the data, transform it into a format compatible with Elasticsearch, typically JSON. This may involve reformatting fields or restructuring the data to match your Elasticsearch index mappings.
Configure an index in Elasticsearch where the data will be stored. Define mappings for the data structure, specifying the types of fields to match the transformed data. This setup will ensure the data is indexed correctly when ingested.
Use the Elasticsearch API to upload the transformed data. You can perform a bulk insert operation by sending HTTP POST requests to the Elasticsearch `_bulk` endpoint. Make sure to handle errors and confirm that the data is successfully indexed.
After uploading, query the Elasticsearch index to verify that the data has been ingested correctly. Perform checks to ensure that all fields are accurately indexed and that the data is accessible through Elasticsearch queries. Validate against your original data set to ensure completeness.
By following these steps, you can successfully move data from Zendesk Talk to an Elasticsearch destination without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
