How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Extract Data from BambooHR

Begin by logging into your BambooHR account. Navigate to the 'Reports' section where you can generate a report containing the specific data you need to move. Configure the report by selecting the appropriate fields and filters. Once the report is ready, export it as a CSV file. This file will serve as your raw data source.

Open the exported CSV file using a spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Review the data for any inconsistencies or errors. Clean the data by ensuring that all fields are correctly populated and formatted. Remove any unnecessary columns that are not needed for your analysis or import into Firebolt.

Analyze the schema in Firebolt to understand the required data structure. Modify your CSV file to match this schema. This may involve renaming columns, changing data types, or splitting/merging fields as necessary. Ensure that the data types in your CSV are compatible with the types required by Firebolt.

Access your Firebolt account and ensure you have the necessary permissions to create tables and import data. Set up a new database or use an existing one where you intend to load the BambooHR data. Create a table structure that mirrors the schema you've prepared your CSV file to match.

Use a script or tool to convert your CSV data into SQL INSERT statements. This can be done using a programming language like Python or a command-line tool that reads your CSV file and outputs SQL statements. Ensure that the generated SQL commands are formatted correctly for execution in Firebolt.

Using Firebolt's SQL editor or command-line interface, execute the SQL INSERT statements generated in the previous step. This will load your prepared data into the Firebolt database. Monitor the execution for any errors and ensure all records are imported successfully.

Once the data is loaded, run queries in Firebolt to verify that the data has been imported correctly. Check for discrepancies by comparing a sample of records from the original CSV file against the data in Firebolt.
