How to Sync to Manually
Step 1: Export Data from BambooHR
Begin by exporting the data from BambooHR. BambooHR provides an option to export data in CSV format. Navigate to the BambooHR interface, select the data you need to export (such as employee data, timesheets, etc.), and choose the option to export as a CSV file. Ensure that the data exported includes all necessary fields required for your TiDB database.
Step 2: Prepare Data for Transformation
Once you have the CSV file, open it using a spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Check the data for consistency and completeness, ensuring there are no missing or incorrect entries. Clean the data by removing any extraneous information that you do not want to import into TiDB.
Step 3: Design TiDB Schema
Before importing data, you need to design the schema for your TiDB database. Define the tables and fields that correspond to the data you exported from BambooHR. Use TiDB's SQL syntax to create tables with appropriate data types that match the data in your CSV file. This step ensures that the data fits well into the database structure.
Step 4: Transform Data to SQL Insert Statements
Transform the cleaned CSV data into SQL insert statements. You can write a script using a programming language like Python or a shell script to read the CSV file and generate SQL insert statements. Each row in the CSV should correspond to an insert statement for the appropriate table in TiDB.
Step 5: Set Up TiDB Environment
Set up your TiDB environment if it is not already running. TiDB can be deployed on local machines, cloud servers, or using Kubernetes. Follow the TiDB installation and configuration guide to set up your environment. Ensure that you have access to the TiDB server and the necessary permissions to create databases and tables.
Step 6: Import Data into TiDB
With your SQL insert statements ready, connect to your TiDB instance using a SQL client like MySQL command-line tool or a graphical client such as DBeaver. Execute the SQL statements to insert the data into your TiDB database. Make sure to check for any errors during this process, which may need to be corrected in your data transformation script or in the database schema.
Step 7: Verify Data Integrity
After the data import is complete, verify the integrity of the data in TiDB. Run queries to check that all data has been imported correctly and that there are no discrepancies between the data in BambooHR and your TiDB database. Validate that the data types, values, and relationships within the tables are all consistent with the original dataset.
