How to Sync to Manually

Step 1: Export Data from Braze

Begin by exporting the data you need from Braze. You can do this by accessing the Braze dashboard and utilizing their data export feature. Typically, you can export data in formats such as CSV or JSON. Make sure to configure the export settings to include all the necessary fields and filters to capture the desired dataset.

Once the data export is complete, download the exported files onto your local system. Ensure that you maintain the file integrity by checking that all files are complete and match the expected data volume and structure.

Set up your local environment for data processing. This might involve ensuring you have the necessary tools installed, such as a command-line interface (CLI) tool or script to handle data processing. You might also need to prepare a suitable directory structure to organize your data files.

Transform the exported Braze data into a format that Firebolt can ingest. This often involves converting the data into a columnar format such as Parquet or ORC if Firebolt requires it. Use scripting languages like Python or tools like pandas for data transformation. Ensure that the data schema aligns with the target table schema in Firebolt.

Firebolt requires data to be loaded from a cloud storage service. Upload your transformed data files to a compatible cloud storage service such as Amazon S3. Create a structured bucket and folder system to manage these files efficiently, and ensure proper permissions are set for access.

Log into your Firebolt account and prepare to ingest the data. Create a new table or use an existing one, ensuring the table schema matches the structure of your transformed data files. Utilize Firebolt’s SQL syntax to define the table and specify data types for each column.

Use Firebolt’s SQL interface to execute a COPY command to load data from your cloud storage into the Firebolt table. Specify the relevant file paths and formats. Monitor the loading process for any errors and validate that all data is correctly ingested by running test queries to verify data integrity and completeness.

By following these steps, you can successfully move data from Braze to Firebolt without relying on third-party connectors or integrations.
